Workshop, Tuesday 4 November


Our next workshop will be led by local poet, Michael Newman. 
As usual, there will be a writing exercise in the first half of the evening.   
After a refreshment break, we'll share work we've brought to the meeting - to help us in the editing process.

Exciting programme for 2015

We are just finalising our programme for 2015 and we have some exciting things in store. 

In addition to our usual monthly programme of workshops, writing group and poetry reading group, we are planning a number of special events next year, including performances with music, a talk on the Musicality of Welsh Poetry, a full day away on our summer writing retreat at a gorgeous hall in the country, social events in July and December, and a whole load more.  There will be something for everyone!

Chelt Poets workshop, 7pm, 7 October, Parmoor House, Cheltenham

Stuart Nunn will be leading our workshop on Tuesday night, 7 October, 7pm - 10pm.  Stuart is an experienced English Literature teacher and lecturer, and an inspiring workshop leader.  There will be a writing exercise, followed by refreshments.  In the second half we'll read previously-written poems brought to the meeting, giving and receiving comments to help us all in the editing process.  £4 to include tea/coffee/biscuits.  All welcome.

Chance Encounters - a new anthology by Chelt Poets

The Cheltenham Poetry Society anthology is out.  Chance Encounters features fourteen poets, twenty eight poems. Available from the poets for £3.50.

Workshop, 2 September

Next Chelt Poets workshop will be at 7 pm till 10 pm on Tuesday 2 September at Parmoor House, 13 Lypiatt Terrace, Cheltenham.  £4 to include refreshments.  (£2 for subscribers). Bring pen/paper and about eight copies of one or two of your poems.  Hope to see you there!

Poetry Workshop, Tuesday 1 April

Cheltenham Poetry Society is delighted to have David Ashbee leading our next workshop, on 1 April, 7pm - 10pm, upstairs at Parmoor House, 13 Lypiatt Terrace, Cheltenham.

There will be a writing exercise in the first half of the evening, and sharing of pre-written poems after the break, when we will be giving and receiving constructive comments to help each other in the editing process. 

This is a friendly, supportive group - newcomers always welcome.


Please bring writing materials, and 8 - 10 copies of one or two of your poems.
Cost - £4, reduced to £2 for subscribers - including refreshments.

Cheltenham Poetry Society and Winchcombe Poets present "Into the Heights" - Friday 17 January 2014





The first Cheltenham Poetry Society special event for 2014 is a collaboration with Winchcombe Poets. 
 It has been exciting working with Helena Cavan on this joint venture.


Into the Heights will be an evening of wods and music, commencing at 7.30 on Friday 17 January 2014, at St Nicholas Church, Chandos St, Winchcombe. 


Cheltenham and Winchcombe poets will read poems down the centuries on the search for hope in difficult times ... and will read their own work on similar themes. 
Music by Roger Turner, soloist Nia Chittenden. 

Refreshments available. A retiring collection will be made; proceeds to St Nichoas church.
